5. Shared definition of ADL
Through discussion, the following subjects were deemed to be core subjects in ADL. They are listed in the order they came up:
- cooking
- cleaning
- clothing care (laundry, ironing)
- house repairs
- personal hygiene
- eating
- money
- childcare
- labelling and marking
- gardening/flower care
- operating equipment
- sewing
- medication
- leisure & recreation (reading (knowing about availability), games (playing cards), sport, music, hobbies, handcrafts)
- dressing
- 'basics': sensory awareness, organisational skills, concepts, motor awareness/motor development
Other related areas (essential, but not ADL):
- communication (keyboard skills, telephone, handwriting, computer, non-verbal, tactile)
- basic mobility
- aids and appliances (knowledge about what is available and how to obtain it)
- financial/legal information
