8th ICEVI European Conference on Education and Re/habilitation of the Visually ImpairedDear members of ICEVI-Europe, dear colleagues, ICEVI-Europe can look back on a long tradition of conferences. We can be satisfied with that, especially now ICEVI-World emphasises regional conferences. Therefore I gladly invite you to participate our 8th ICEVI European Conference in Europe, which will take place from June 30 to July 05, 2013 in Istanbul - Turkey. More than ever, this conference aims to be a meeting place for all, who are involved in education, rehabilitation and care for people with a visual impairment or multidisabilities; parents, professionals, policymakers and governments. Everybody is invited to actively take part in this conference. More or less contrary to previous conferences, this conference will explicitly pay attention per age category & to several fields, which have been worked out by the International Classification of Functioning, disability and health, ICF: " Visual system
These fields underlie the structure of the conference in the expectation that this will stimulate meetings between persons with the same interest. Therefore it will be a meeting place which means that we have to make this conference together. We offer much opportunity to express one's ideas and wishes. Hans Welling, Chairman ICEVI-Europe Dear Colleagues, It is our pleasure to invite you to the 8th ICEVI European Conference on education and re/habilitation of visually impaired people which is due to take place from June 30 to July 05, 2013 in Istanbul - Turkey. All the professionals who serve the visually impaired people from infancy until old ages, namely health professionals (ophtalmologists and other related physicians, optometrists, psychologists-developmental, social, educational/school, clinical, counseling, health, neuro-, physiotherapists, early interventionists, low vision therapsits, etc.), educational professionals (education planners, teachers, etc.), social professionals (policy makers, NGO representatives, etc.), technological professionals, social workers, advocators, occupational therapists, families etc. are expected to come together. The aim of the conference is to share knowledge and experience, cooperate with each other in order to give the most efficient service to the visually impaired people in any age and make them active and productive, thus include them to the community in daily life. The program will include parallel and poster sessions, symposia, workshops, oral communications, including scientific research and practical experiences, in regard to the areas of "visual system", "participation in daily life", "environmental factors", "personal factors" at the ages of 0-6, 7-21, 22-60, over 60. There will also be meetings of special interest groups to share experience, discuss and decide about the policies for the optimal service, namely; MDVI, low vision, early intervention, orientation & mobility, deaf blindness, Bathens illness, Ushers illness, psychology, inclusive/integrated education, vocational training, access technology, employment, aging people, daily living activities, families. ICEVI- Europe sub regional metings will also be held. Istanbul, the melting pot of continents and cultures over centuries will be an inspirational and excellent host .
