Message of Ryszard Maslowski,
Voivode of Malopolska Region

Opening session, Sunday 9 July 2000, 15.00 - 17.00

Dear participants of the ICEVI Conference,

Thank you very much for the invitation to the Conference of International Council for Education of People with Visual Impairment in Krakow. Unfortunately, I cannot take part in its opening.

Therefore I would like to ask you in this letter to welcome and greet all the honourable quests on my behalf.

I am happy that Cracow has been given the privilege to be the host of the ICEVI conference this year. Everybody involved in this difficult and crucial process of education of people with visual impairment proved to be very active and experienced. I am convinced that sharing our knowledge and achievements between different countries will improve methods of working with the blind and partially sighted which will give them the opportunity to live and work within society.

I hope that the members of the conference, in addition to taking part in sessions and meetings, will be able to take the opportunity to feel the special climate of the city where a cultural heritage of Poland is so clearly visible.

With best wishes to all members of the ICEVI Conference.
